Personality: Despite his outward appearance, Fado is very wise, and very smart. It's not unusual for him to spout out bits of wisdom, and he has a large wealth of knowledge about the land of Hyrule and the races and magic that inhabit it. Because of his old age and position, he speaks a bit old-fashionedly and formally, in particular when addressing those of importance and members of the Royal Family. He is one of the most mature of the Kokiri, and even more mature than most adults. He is definitely not uptight however; he's very loose and calm, and a go-with-the-flow kind of guy, encouraging people to relax around him despite his formal tone. He's able to remain calm and maintain his composure in the face of many dilemmas and dangers; though he's often unflappable, it's not impossible for him to get flustered or bewildered. He's a Kokiri through and through and a child at heart, so he enjoys silly things, games and festivals immensely, though his responsibilities prevent him from enjoying them sometimes. He's a tad simplistic and takes delight in getting to just sit down and play his violin, whether it has to do with prayer or not-- and is even more happy when others around hear it and enjoy it.
Although he's not disrespectful persay, he is a bit cheeky and impudent towards authorities, even the Royal Family. He does take his duty as a Sage seriously, but he's not unknown to ignore someone's commands, let off a snarky remark, or teasingly mock them. He certainly has a mischevious side to him, though it is considerably toned down and never done with malicious intent; merely a desire to have fun. He can also be a bit flippant, or won't treat important things with the gravity it might deserve-- especially since he might not think something is that important of a problem when someone else does, but at these times, he'll usually just try to give advice. Most of the time his mockery is targeted at more grave people, but when the situation arises, he knows when to be serious, or when his comments might go too far. His flippancy never goes so far as to offend or hurt someone intentionally, and he does treat his duties as a Sage with as much importance as it deserves. So, while he is very dedicated in his job, he isn't obsessed with being absolutely proper all the time.
Fado is actually quite lively when you get down to it; he enjoys seeing people smile, and wears a constant smile on his face himself. He encourages people to enjoy themselves, even among his cheeky comments. He's bold enough to act the same way towards the Royal Family as he would towards normal people, though only when it is not too inappropriate. Along with his large dedication to his duty as a Sage (and a heavy one it is, as he's been at it for hundreds of years, even before his death) is a strong determination to make sure he has done what he is supposed to and what he can do. His dedication to the Royal Family and Hyrule itself is tantamount, as all of this amounted in his spirit lingering without the Wind Temple hundreds of years after his own death, determined to make sure that there would be another sage to maintian the power of the Master Sword against evil. This can be taken to be a bit of a justice streak, and he firmly belives that the forces of good will triumph over evil in the end. Because of his strong connection to the gods, Fado is also a very spiritual person, firmly believing in the goddesses of Hyrule and the forces of good. His worldview is rather simple, and demonstrates his mild childlike demeanor.
He supports moderation and balance between enjoyment and duty. He's very much a cheerful and optimistic person, even despite his years of experience and even his own death. He believes unwaveringly in the goddesses, the royal family, and the hero however, and thus why he is willing to serve to protect the Master Sword's power and remains cheerful even when things are looking bad. He has a very understanding nature, and since he grew up outside of the forest with lots of contact with the other races, is very tolerant of and patient with people, so long as they don't wish to do harm. His Kokiri side shows here, as he is very much a pacifist: despite his inherent spiritual power from his connection with the gods, he has no fighting ability to speak of, and isn't able to defend himself in most cases. This wasn't a problem to him until he was attacked and killed by Molgera, but even now, though he acknowledges this shortcoming, he finds the idea of fighting on his own less than ideal.
Abilities: Fado is the Wind Sage of the Master Sword-- it was his job during his lifetime to pray to the gods and maintain the power to repel evil within the Master Sword. As such, he has a copious amount of spiritual power and a close connection with both the wind and the gods, acting as a link between the realm of Hyrule and the Sacred Realm. Though he is technically retired (being...y'know dead), he still has the ability to reach them and endow weapons with the power of light, or create seals and barriers with the aid of others. He can do it on his own, it just wouldn't be as powerful (and the power to repel evil can not be maintained in its entirety without an Earth Sage to help him).
As a property of his race, he is also very closely in tune with nature and the forest, to the point of having a weird sort of spiritual empathy, and never ages past the appearance of a young child while also having an incredibly long lifespan.
